Best Time to Visit
Late spring and early autumn are ideal. May through June gives you long daylight hours and fewer crowds than July-August. September and October have the same benefits, with fewer midges and better weather stability than summer.
Winter walks are quieter, but you're racing against daylight. April and November sit in the middle — pleasant temperatures, decent daylight, manageable conditions.
Parking and Getting Around
You'll need a car for these walks. Dingle town is the main hub. From there:
- Dunquin: 30 mins northwest, small car park (fills by 11 AM in summer)
- Slea Head: Accessible from Dunquin, walk the clifftop route back
- Ventry: 15 mins southwest, larger car park, good facilities
- Ballyferriter: 25 mins west, village parking available
Pro tip: If you're not confident driving narrow Irish country roads, book a taxi from Dingle. A few local drivers specialize in walker pickups — they'll drop you and collect you at the endpoint.
